Lego Star Wars The Complete Saga Review

There is something about the meshing of George Lucas and Lego that just works and makes this game a so much fun to play and incredible to look at. Whether you are 5 or 50 you will get pure enjoyment from playing this game. Being a n00b to gaming I had never played the previous incarnations of Lego: Star Wars, but have since checked them out and the graphics in the complete saga have increased dramatically and now have the HD quality you expect from a game.

Lego Star Wars: TCS has 36 levels which as you might expect consists of all 6 episodes covering from The Phantom Menace through to Return of the Jedi, each of these episodes has 6 chapters then there are also bonus rounds at the end of each episode including a character bonus, minikit bonus and super story mode where you can play the whole episode, complete with the funny mini clips straight through. The game now has 162 characters, including 2 you can create yourself and Indiana Jones from the upcoming Lego: Indiana Jones game. The funniest thing of all is that Jar Jar, the most annoying movie character ever, is even useful

After you have played Episode I Chapter I in story mode, you can enter the expanded Mos Eisley Cantina lobby system and begin playing from Chapter I of any of the episodes, so if you don’t plan on playing the whole game you can pick the Episodes you want. Once you have played any chapter in story mode you can then go back with the character or vehicle of your choice and play in free play.

If not using a guide on first play through you will notice you are lucky to have completed 40% of the game when done. Lego Star Wars: TCS is about collecting, Lego studs for True Jedi Status, Minikits for vehicles, and red bricks for extras. Achieving all those collections awards you gold bricks that give you access to the 6 bonus rounds, accessible in the bonus room. There is also 20 bounty hunter missions unlocked after unlocking all bounty hunter characters.

Some of the most fun I have had is playing the online co-op that is new to this version on Lego Star Wars. I do have issues with some of the cameras angles though especially when there are things you need to pick up and view of them is obstructed by a pole or wall.

If you are trying to get 100% on this game, you will need to do 3 playthroughs, minimum – and as good as the sound is the background music gets repetitive easily. I am currently on my 3rd with the music switched off, but I’m still thoroughly enjoying the game.

I gave this game $85 out of $100
It only lost that $15 for the required multiple playthroughs for 100% and the sometimes dodgy camera angles.
