Here is a novel idea that brings a whole new dimension to playing Mario Kart online with friends, voice chat! Now I’m not going to go into why in this day and age the Nintendo Wii is unable to do it, but we will be giving you a step by step work around that possible makes Mario Kart the most fun you can have in online gaming.
Now as most semi serious gamers know, we have all had to buy either, an Xbox 360 and Nintendo wii, or a PS3 and a wii. Those of you lucky enough to have all three NextGEN Consoles, probably should get a job. So no matter what combination you have, lets begin the set up.
1) Your CRT-TV, LCD or Plasma all have at least 2 sets of AV or component jacks in the back of your set. Ensue that you have both your Nintendo wii plugged into one set, and your PS3 or Xbox 360 plugged into the other.
2) Start up your Wii and insert Mario Kart.
3) Change your channel on your TV or monitor to the channel showing your screen for the second lot of inputs – ie change the channel so you can see your Xbox 360 or PS3.
4) Start up your PS3 or Xbox 360 and insert either Halo 3 or COD 4. These two games are what most people own. We find COD 4 better for voice chat in lobbies as Halo 3 seems to be choppy or sometimes people can’t talk. (Thanks Bungie)
5) Invite your friends into your Call of Duty 4 or your Halo 3 lobby and tell them to start up their Wii, as it’s time to play Mario Kart!
6) Switch your channel back to the one that is showing your Wii menu.
7) Now, simply start up a lobby in Mario Kart and wait for your friends who are online in your Halo 3 or Call of duty 4 lobby to join you.
8) Let the fun begin!
So there you have it. You can play Mario Kart with a full lobby online, while voice chatting your opponents! We have tested this method numerous times and have found absolutely no lag in Mario Kart what so ever. That includes hosting a full lobby of Mario Kart, a lobby of gamers in COD4 or Halo 3 for voice chat, and my misses using a computer in another room.
