Microsoft Cracking Down Hard on Modded 360s
Mess with your console, get banned from Xbox Live.

After reports began popping up around the web of an alarming new message (pictured) appearing on modded Xbox 360s, both Major Nelson and the Gamerscore Blog have posted regarding the instances. Both posts strongly tow the company line, reiterating Microsoft's extremely strict policy on modded consoles. From Major:
"As you can imagine, we have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to modded consoles connecting to LIVE. We're very serious about this, and if we detect you have a modded Xbox then you will not be able to connect to Xbox Live. If you see this screen and get Status Code: Z: 8015 - 190D&that means your console has been banned."
And the Gamerscore Blog:
"We have stated in the past that customers can only enjoy access to the Xbox LIVE community through the use of a genuine, unmodified, Xbox console and we will continue to enforce this rule to ensure the integrity of our service, the protection of our partners and the benefits of our users."
This certainly shouldn't be a surprising move, but many gamers were thrown off given the easiness and frequency of modability on the original Xbox. In a move setting themselves from the somewhat-visible level of openness on PlayStation 3, Microsoft has made their message exceedingly clear: if you want to play on our playground, you will use our toys.
